Part I: From Farm to E-Markets: Building Financial Health in Sabah

  • 19 November 2021

On Women’s Entrepreneurship Day today, UNDP Malaysia and UNCDF are celebrating women entrepreneurs in Malaysia who have persevered and triumphed through the pandemic with sheer determination and innovation. In response to COVID-19, UNDP and UNCDF with Moyog Innovation House piloted an e-market for rural entrepreneurs in Moyog to ensure business continuity in the midst of the Movement Control Order and to enable long term financial health for marginalized communities. 95% of the project beneficiaries were women entrepreneurs and small farmers. Despite the challenging logistical and infrastructure issues they faced, the community managed to establish an alternative value chain for e-commerce and pick up basic digital skills for social media marketing to operationalize their business online.

Join us in our efforts to empower these women entrepreneurs and small farmers by supporting their business and provide them with a global platform to shed light on their challenges. Visit them at www.koondos.com.
